The idea of the band, RXTREME, was created by John (aka Giovanni ) LoPorto. Giovanni played electric guitar during his childhood, then quit to race motocross. After attending college and earning a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree, he again began playing guitar, attending concerts, and listening to all the new and old rock. Influenced by many bands, including: METALLICA, LED ZEPPELIN, BLACK SABBATH, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, VAN HALEN, OZZY, THE DOORS, TOOL, BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN, TED NUGENT, AND GODSMACK, he felt that he had a sound to offer that was different enough to record. "My goal was to have lyrics as powerful as the music"~Giovanni. He couldn't find others that could practice on a regular basis to create the sound he was looking for, so he decided to create a solo- project- self-released CD. Playing all the instruments, writing all the lyrics, singing, and mastering the final product. "I write best when I'm feeling down" recalls Giovanni. "This album was originally titled DARKNESS AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL (reflecting mostly upon the emotional darkness of the lyrics). "I feel that many will relate to these lyrics and realize that they are not alone". "Writing lyrics, is an emotional release for me. The lyrics can appear as a phrase, an idea, or a single word to get me started. But when any of these enter my thoughts, I write them down immediately". Giovanni is currently working on his next album, with all new material and sound. The release date of the second CD will be Summer of 2006.
