Formed in 1993, WIPEOUT launched out on its first gig on 1st May 1993 at a local club and was seen as a "band with a difference!" The difference being that the band consisted of Dad, Gerry Hunt, on drums and his "then" two teenage sons Darren and Jamie. The band has become increasingly popular on the Pub & Club circuit playing covers and original songs. Having appointed a Manager, recorded a CD exclusively of original songs, they now intend to make a serious impact on the music world!

Darren, who plays lead guitar and sings, is heavily influenced by legends such as Van Halen, Steve Vai and Aerosmith. A gifted guitarist in his own right, Darren’s stage performance is truly spectacular! So is his formal training, which includes a 2 year full-time BTEC Diploma in Performing Arts, Grade 8 in Rock School Electric Guitar, Music and Theory. He graduated from The Musicians Institute in London with a Platinum Award Diploma. Darren is now a highly respected guitar teacher running college courses and teaching privately to students of all ages. He is currently writing, co-writing and recording songs for WIPEOUT and other artists.

Jamie, a born performer and one of the most animated guitarists to walk on stage, is naturally suited to being the lead vocalist and rhythm/lead guitar for WIPEOUT. He performed with the Kentwood Junior Choir for many years and for three months supported Philip Schofield in the production of Joseph and His Amazing Dream Coat at the London Palladium. This included taking part in the 1992 The Royal Command Performance at the Dominion Theatre in London. Jamie has attained Rock School Grade 8 in Electric Guitar, Associated Board Exams in Musical Theory, A Level Music, and BTEC Performing Arts. After studying at The London Music School Jamie too has achieved the highest grade, a Platinum Award Diploma. He is a member of The Registry of Guitar Tutors and writes, co-writes with Darren and records songs. Jamie’s influences also include some of the world's greatest bands and artists like Mr Big, Joe Satriani, Whitesnake etc.

Gerry’s own musical training and education, as drummer/singer for WIPEOUT, is somewhat less formal than that of his sons. With no musical qualifications as such he has a wealth of experience with countless semi-pro bands over the past 30 something years. During the 60’s and early 70’s he played for a band called Kaleidoscope who were booked as "support band" to various named bands such as The Searchers, Billy J. Kramer, The Fortunes etc., etc., (........ah the good old days). As the foundation of WIPEOUT, Gerry puts on an impressive display of some of the most awesome drumming you’re ever likely to witness! His influences come from the likes of Buddy Rich, Louie Bellson, Ginger Baker – the sort of players that rhythm boxes can’t imitate!

With this combination of talent and sheer musical genius WIPEOUT is an experience not to be missed! So catch the action and contact wipeout@wipeout.screaming.net
