I played in band in the NY area for about 7 years, in the late 70's - early 80's, called Timberwolf. We played almost all Grateful Dead with some related covers. I used this guitar almost exclusively, 5-6 nights a week. The keyboard player in the band, Rob Baracco, has toured the past couple of years with Phil Lesh & Friends and believe it or not, The Dead!

This guitar looks and sounds great! It has it's bruises from all the time on the road but it still sounds and plays great. I just recently ordered a new bridge for it, that I found online, that is factory original and is still in the original packaging.

Details & History

I Bought this  Artist from a guitar fair in 1995 in favour of a Gibson Les Paul Custom. I just loved the look and sound. However I do find it heavy, compared to the LP’s I now have.

Ibanez Artist model 2619, made in 12/77  Serial/no.L775964

Super 80 humbuckers with butterfly engraved covers,

wide tune-o-matic Gibraltar bridge.

22 Frets, maple top, mahogany neck back and sides. Antique Violin Brown sunburst finish Abolone and Mother of pearl inserts in ebony fretboard

The stock electronics on this model come with the two "tri-sound" switch setup

The 2619 was renamed the AR300 in '79, and is probably one of the most versatile guitars I've come across.
The tri-sound switches (one for each pickup) allow each pickup to be used in 3 different ways: humbucker, single coil, or parallel. With the 3-way pickup selector there are 15 combinations of sounds possible.
