Details & History

You are looking at a RARE 1992 Ibanez 7 string electric guitar UV77MC. As most of you know, this guitar went on a very limited production run and is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to find. This guitar has been VERY WELL cared for and DOES come with the owners manual and original warranty card. The serial number on this guitar is #918590. It also comes in its original specially designed hardshell case. With regards to wear and tear: There is a small ding on the side of the guitar parallel to the tone knob where the paint is missing. With regards to size, it's approximately .25 of an inch. Other than that, there is no further wear and tear to speak of!!

Message from Michael

I'm an amp tech in Berlin, Germany
This guitar belongs to my friend and customer Joey Albrecht, and is in excellent condition. Joey always loved his black UV7 a lot more, so this one was in fact a reserve guitar.

{Looks to be one of the Japanese MC's. Ed!}

The most beautiful guitar ever made (man what's this guy on??? Ed.) Ok, sorry, well I like them, I don't care if some people say it looks like Steve had to much tequila one night and this was the result. I think Darren made a classic, and I for one won't rest till I either get hold of my own or Ibanez produces a new universe multi colour with an AANJ. ARE YA WITH ME????

Oli's pride and joy, he's got lots of detail and pictures here, you should also check out his website, great site. (Thanks Oli. Ed!)

I did it! I found and bought one of the most sought after Ibanez guitars, a Multicolour Universe UV77MC. It was like a dream come true after 10 years and became a wonderful 2000 Christmas present to myself.

Serial number: 902373

The condition is near mint, with very little plate corrosion and some pimpling on the trem. There was a MIDI pickup taped to the pickguard between the bridge and the bridge pickup, but I was able to remove the leftover glue without any damage. To my surprise, there is not a single ding, nick or scratch in the body's clear coat, although it is known to chip very easily. The pre-owner seems to have lost the green volume knob, it was replaced with a yellow one. I installed Gotoh FreeLock strap pins, but they will be upgraded with Schaller Security Lock pins soon.

I think the guitar is one of the early models, because:

1. It has a 90xxxx numbered neck plate.
Made in 1990, that's the first year of production.
2. The trem is an EDGE-7.
Later models 1991-1993 have the Lo-Pro EDGE-7.
3. The middle pickup has chrome pole pieces.
Later models have black allen screw pole pieces. Here's what Glen from Jemsite says: "The silver pole pieces were normal in the single coil PU in their original run. They were soon changed by DiMarzio after a year or so..."
m
4. The neck is clear-coated.
Later models have wax finished necks.

From the colour selection and swirl pattern, I would have said it was a Japanese swirl when I first saw it. And indeed, there is no ATD stamp in the heel pocket. According to Darren Johansen, only sixty MCs were done in Japan before the ATD production started. This guitar is one of 60, talk about collectability! {This is conflicting with other details I have been given. more evidence soon Ed!}

Pickups Neck DiMarzio Blaze-II
Middle DiMarzio Blaze-II Single
Bridge DiMarzio Blaze-II
Strings Dean Markley Lite .009-.042 plus D'Angelico .054

Great detail and some interesting points, I like the comparison pictures below of the two bridges the Lo-Pro edge on Oli's friend Bernd's guitar. Thanks again Oli.
