At the time it was a top line Ibanez, and was wondering how many were produced. One guy at a local music store told me of a law suit in regard to the pr1660,is there any truth to this. I feel certain someone out there knows. thanks for your time    lost in the archives Joe s.

Details & History

This is an Ibanez PR1660 (Pro Line Series). It has a Randy Rhodes V style body and still has all its original hardware. I believe it to have been made in Japan in 1985, because all the other PR1660's I've ever heard of have been 1985 made in Japan. This baby is rare, if you want to see for yourself, go research PR1660's through search engines. You'll find people swearing that theirs is the best guitar they've ever played and that they'll never sell it. Everything about this guitar is quality. It sounds better than any guitar made today could ever sound. i think this is why they're so hard to find for sale, plus the fact that they were only made in 1985. The guitar is still in great condition with very few knicks or scratches.

Details & History

This is the 1985 Ibanez PR1660 Proline V in Pearl White #C854472. This includes the original case, warranty card and spare parts for the Pro Rock'r trem: (Proline's came with two extra fine tuners, two locking nut bolts and clamps, two bridge-end string clamps and screws, two trem arm tension washers and all the allen keys)! This is a RARE guitar that is basically Ibanez's top-of the line Roadstar-this is relative to the Prestige series today being the high end RG's, Ss, UV's and such. The Proline Series was the first line of Ibanez guitars to feature the pointy black headstock shape that we all know and love today-check out the 1984 catalog if you can... This features an alder(!) body, tung-oil finished maple neck with ebony fingerboard, and Pro Rock'r double locking trem with black chrome hardware. I haven't seen a Proline in this condition since my personal PR1440 (red Strat-style) I bought new in late 1984! The original owner treated this with love and care. There is not a single scratch or ding on this guitar! This seems like it came out of a time capsule! The guitar plays great on the perfectly straight neck and jumbo unworn frets! I put brand new strings on it and it's ready to go! This is a real cool guitar and would round out an Ibanez collection real nicely!
