Details & History

{My thanks to Marcus Wadstein from Sweden for these pictures of his guitars, the PGM500CA shown alongside his RG15271. Thanks Marcus.}

I bought this ’96 PGM500 used. The truss cover is missing and it’s a little scratched but it sounds and plays amazing!
The RG15271 I bought new from Japan in 2003. It plays great but it sounds a little cheap. I’m planning a pickup change soon.

Details & History

{This one's a bit special!! Ed!}

This guitar belonged to a former Ibanez U.S.A. executive, all his guitars were custom ordered and made to his specifications and likings, this one is a pgm 500 Paul Gilbert model, this one sports a alder body with a candy red finish with cream colored painted on f-holes. The neck is the standard wizard but with Dunlop 6000 huge fret wire for the almost scalloped feel, but for better control than the stock medium jumbo Ibanez frets. The headstock is candy red also to match the body and cream colored fret markers. The body has a gold fixed bridge, and the pickups are special as they are a deep red almost candy colored to match the body, totally custom as I have never seen DiMarzio's this color before, totally cool. The pickups are a tone zone in the rear a virtual vintage blues hum cancelling single in the middle, and a paf pro in the neck position, the pickups are wired to a 5 way switch and the 2 and 4 positions are split with the humbuckers and the single to achieve just about any tone, I gave this one a test run and the sounds are incredible, the single is so snappy like a stevie ray sound , and a tele sound is achieved with the 2 and 4 positions and the humbuckers are sweet , pure balls with tone for days a beautiful set up!! Pro set up and plays like butter realy nice no stiff strings here, (I personally own a stock pgm 500 and mine is a dog compared to this one I am do for a makeover on mine!!) Rounding it out is the original Ibanez pro line hard shell case, guitar is in great near mint shape, only some rubbing on a couple of the bridge saddles and some fine hairline scratches on the rear of the body hold it back from being mint, truly a gem guitar it has it all the sound and great playability!!
