Details & History

Another one of the, made in Japan, signature Paul Gilbert (Tokyo Musician’s Institute MI faculty, Racer X, Mr. Big, etc.) models made by Ibanez. This was the first limited edition PGM model ever offered. A limited run was done in 1993 and that’s it. You might have mistaken it for the production PGM-500 which looks similar but has a load of different specs.

  • Alder (not Basswood like other PGMs) RG-style body
  • Candy Apple Red finish with painted crème f-holes
  • matching headstock with gold foil Ibanez logo, “PGM series” script and locking Gotoh tuners
  • AANJ bolt-on painted maple neck
  • 24 fret Rosewood fingerboard
  • Dot inlays
  • white bobbin DiMarzio Humbucker from Hell (neck), FS-1 (single coil) and Tone Zone (bridge) pickups
  • Gotoh TZ-6 vintage tremolo bridge
  • 1 Volume control
  • 5-way split toggle switch
  • Gold hardware
  • Paul’s cartoon doodle and signature on the control cavity plate
