Details & History

What I have to say about my guitar.  Well.  My father bought the guitar for me for Christmas at guitar center.  As myself being a big fan of Satch, naturally I wanted one of his guitars.  Thus his endorsement of Ibanez guitars makes Ibanez my number one choice of guitar.  Now about the guitar.  The 2003-2004 line of JS100 has not changed much, except for two major details.  The first being the disposal of the Lo-TRS abomination of a tremolo.  It was replaced with the quite awesome Edge Pro II, which has better string locks that are part of the saddle.  The other "pro" of the Edge Pro II is the ability to load strings in with their ball ends still attached.  The other thing is a pull/push pot on the tone knob that activates a coil split on the pickups.  Speaking of pickups, the new JS100s still come with the DiMarzio IBZ Axis ones and twos.  These pickups were originally designed for the RG's, but to make the JS100 cheaper than the JS1000, 1200, and 2000, Ibanez also decided to use them on the JS100.  The neck is cool, although I wish it came with the Joe Prestige neck which has more radius.  I love this guitar, and as such, I have named it after Thor's hammer, Mjolnir, in honour of my ancestry.  The guitar is surely the best guitar I have owned, as the only other guitar I have is a Yamaha Strat/RG style guitar.  The tone is great, although in the future I will be changing the pickups to a DiMarzio Joe and a DiMarzio Fred.  I'm still contemplating, if I get the money, if I want to get the guitar nickel plated.  Otherwise, I love the design, and this will probably be my last guitar that I will use for the rest of my life, save for some modification.  That's really all.  I have pics of my guitar attached to this document.  Thanks for posting my guitar, and I have to be honest with you, your site is completely and totally awesome.  I admire what you have managed to create. Thanks.

JS100, which I got in 94 (I think...memory's a bitfuzzy) when I thought all JS's were the same and was amazed how cheap it was. I think 94 was the only year with the black controls....anyway, serial# C413784. I thoroughly enjoyed this guitar, but got frustrated with the poor pickups and dodgy trem. I eventually put DiMarzio PAF Pro and FRED pickups in and a dual coil tap, but got fed up of adjusting the trem position after every use of the whammy bar.

Details & History

Designed by Joe Satriani and Ibanez, this guitar features a very cool sculpted basswood body that may be the most comfortable guitar you'll ever play. The pickups are IBZ AH1 (neck) & AH2 (bridge) humbuckers, chosen for their searing lead & thick rhythm tonal versatility. Also features rosewood fretboard, 1-pc maple neck, double locking Lo TRS II tremolo and a coil-tap switch for single coil tones.
