Details & HistoryStill one of my favourite guitars after all these years. This was my first real "professional" level guitar (and my introduction into the wonderful world of Ibanez). Working my way through a summer internship ($ in the bank), having just lost a girlfriend, and playing some God-awful looking Hamer Slammer, I walked into a local music store one day and saw this hanging on the wall (I thought I'd died & went to heaven, being probably the biggest Dream Theatre fan in the midwest.). At the time I bought this, the P2's were already in production, but this was still available as new-old stock from the previous model year. Only 100 of these were made, so I've been told. The design, which is unique to the JPM series, is a paper print that has been clearcoated over.

Details & HistoryThis is a very serious collector's item. It features the original Picasso graphic colour scheme, whose colours were changed in the JPM guitars of later years. The guitar itself is in near perfect condition. I could find nothing wrong with it except for a few small scratches around the bottom perimeter of the back of the body. Besides that, it looks just like it came out of the showroom. The guitar plays beautifully, with great sustain and tone, and the coil tap will help you to broaden the tone possibilities. The Ibanez hardshell case has some scuff marks on one side near the bottom end, but is in good condition overall. The guitar comes with DiMarzio Straploks. The Petrucci model has terrific sustain (more than my Jems/Universes), and can produce a wide array of tones because of the three-pickup/coil-tap configuration. The action is very low, the neck is VERY fast, and the shape of the neck itself is slightly different than any other Ibanez I've played. It is a fantastic guitar. {Note. 100 P1's were produced and imported from hoshino and sold with a certificate signed by John Petrucci, There was around 300-400 actually produced. Thanks Rich. Ed!}. |
