Details & History An ’89 PBk….. For some the PBk is one of the ‘boring jem’ but it is one of my faves….and one of Steve’s too. Steve chose a PBk for his firs performance ever of For the Love of God at the Seville Expo in ’92 (I’d like to say that he chose it for the tone or the neck that make it really easy to play…… but he probably picked it because it colour co-ordinated to his stage outfit!) and if you look in the ’92 catalogue, and you can prise your eyes from that PMC you can see the PBk workhorse in the background! Definitely has that Passion and Warfare era tone. Definitely a cool jem this one…. Would suit those who want the
This guitar is a super player and has a million miles on the clock. it has the thinnest neck of any guitar I have ever played! I have thought of giving here a birthday and a new paint job but I never get around to it.
Stats for those hunting…Old style neck joint… old style grip…. MOP and Green abalone pyramids…. White DiMarzios (many of these have some fading now)- PAF Pros of course. One piece maple with really good feeling dark rosewood. Very thin neck. not the usual Jem profile….much more wizardy!
Interesting Jem fact for the PBk…. One of only 2 with the old grip and the only rosewood board jem with disappearing pyramids.
Once prized for there nice neck and board, many were used for projects which has made an uncommon guitar even more rare. Good luck finding yours!

Details & HistoryIt's a 1989 JEM7PBK. I got this guitar around about 1995 or 1996 (I can't quite remember). It's a fantastic instrument with a shockingly thin neck and plays with the absolute minimum of effort. It could do with a re-fret and for a well played guitar of its age is in pretty good condition. I had always wanted a Jem being a big Vai fan and have started looking around for a couple more to give it some company.

HARD TO FIND JEM7PBK. Oblong handle,
basswood body, mother of pearl pyramid inlays, PAF PRO pickups, and has
to be the best clean tone I have ever gotten on any Ibanez I have ever
played (which has been quite a few) :-)

JEM7PBK (Early JEM Steve Vai's) Electric This thing sounds incredibly wicked and plays almost too easily!!! With a killer Floyd rose set-up also. It has been used plenty, but not abused. It is missing the whammy bar. You don’t see these earlier JEM’s come up for sale too often. {Additionally Ed!} |
