Details & History

My name is Simon Wray and I’m from Bristol in England. Here are some pictures of my Jem that I bought back in ’91. It’s in fair condition but has a fair few bumps and bruises you’d expect having done around 100 gigs. This first one I bought had a very different pattern but as it shipped with a crack on the neck (behind the nut) I returned it. They sent me this one (same crack) so this time I returned just the neck as I liked the pattern much more. The pattern is very similar to another Jem on your site. Serial no of this axe is:  911926.

My first ever Jem…….. with and Edge Pro, which makes it the third trem I think I’ve had on and FP.  One of Steve’s early faves, and probably one of the Jems most identified with Him.

Always a Cool guitar and every one is just that bit different.  I always like the ones with big flowers on.

I also always thought that the FP and the BFP were the jems that made the most sense to have the vines on the neck.

Good to see you can still get a Jem with PAF Pros!!

Details & History

Model: JEM 77 FP

Year: 1988

Serial number: 884247

Owner: Yanne

Details & History:

Condition is probably between very good and excellent. A small scratch at the very top of the headstock, some tiny belt-buckle scratches at the back, very scratchy pickguard (i hate playing rhythm guitar in discobands) :-(

I do change tremolo springs every year as they seem to wear out and affect the tuning stability. It seems as a great thing to do as I truly can say that I tune the guitar only once or twice a year after that. It never goes out of tune. It's so amazing...

Nowadays I use it only for home-purpose. But I've played in jazzbands, top 40-bands, metal-bands and the guitar has never let me down. From subtle clean jazzlicks w/ front pickup, to catchy pop-tunes in pick-up position #2 to wild snarling led-leads w/ bridge pickup. HAS THERE EVER BEEN A BETTER GUITAR BUILT???

Best regards to all other jem-owners.

Yanne

Floral Pattern Jem, I think an 89 from the Neck plate which states made in Japan and the serial number starts with 893(no letter.

It has been well and truly bashed about (not by me I have to add) The neck, frets and action are superb so at least one of the owners looked after this.

At the price i paid It was a fantastic intro to Ibanez and out of a choice of 12 guitars (Les Pauls, Strats, Yamahas etc) it is still the one I pick up.

I understand the early ones were covered in cloth and the later ones a print I don't know if this is true but my is cloth as the big dings in the guitar have exposed it.

The one that started it all. I saw this one hanging in Steve's in Ottawa in the late 80's and remembered that guitar. Now it looks a little dated, but it is still a great guitar. I wanted this one for such a long time and then forgot about it over time. Finally got one many years later. This guitar plays so well and sounds clear. I have used this guitar for fusion and straight ahead jazz, rolling back the tone and using the neck pickup.

Awesome instrument, When it was initially presented to me I thought "yeah right". Now I don't really want to sell it, but I am owed money on it and want my money back. The instrument was purchased new here in New Zealand in November 1996. The serial number is 260535.

Details & History

Ibanez JEM 77FP-Floral Pattern Steve Vai Signature Guitar in excellent condition. All original...features 24-fret vine inlayed rosewood fingerboard, scalloped top four frets, the ultimate locking tremolo-the Ibanez Lo-Pro Edge, DiMarzio PAFPro's in neck & bridge pickup positions, custom DiMarzio Jem single-coil in the middle. Comes with a standard hard shell case. The guitar plays incredibly! No visible fret wear. It's hard to find a flaw on this guitar...there's one tiny ding in the top and the Lo-Pro Edge's black chrome shows some minor wear, but that's it. Please feel free to email me about questions or for additional pics.

Details & History

This is a rare used Ibanez JEM77 FP (Floral Pattern with green vine inlay) electric guitar in good condition. I'm not sure but I think the serial number indicates this is a 1988 (first year) model. I picked this up on one of my pawn trips so I don't know the history on it. Guitar appears to be original and did not come with the tremolo back plate cover or a whammy bar (but I do have an extra whammy bar that I'll include with it). Also comes with a nice non-original hardshell case. There are dings on the guitar (I included a close-up of the worst one) but the guitar still looks good.
