Details & History

After seeing Steve Vai in concert, and given that Dave (the guitar player in my band) plays Jems almost exclusively, I began a quest to find a Jem to add to my collection, knowing it couldn't be too drastically different (in terms of playability) than my other Ibanez's. I was fortunate enough to find a BSB for sale as new-old stock late 1999. The BSB, with it's blowtorch-burned blue finish, was definitely a sweet looking axe, but I never completely fell in love with the sound of it. Also, since there was no clearcoat over the finish, the blue stain would actually rub off while you were playing it, making the guitar look like a real industrial accident. After holding on to the BSB for the better part of a year, I traded it for a DBK in late 2000, which seemed to be an improvement--the Breed pickups had a warmer, mellower sound, and the "midnight tapioca" (as I called it, at least) finish didn't wear off the guitar. As more time passed, I played the DBK less frequently, mostly because it didn't cut through the mix well enough at band practice. When Dave started talking about selling his 90th Anniversary Jem to build his dream Dual Rectifier rig, I knew the DBK would have to go. This became the evil twin of my 90th Anniversary JPM, and it's the fourth Jem I've owned (the third Jem I've owned with a finish that looks like an industrial accident!!).

Details & History

This is a beautiful 90th anniversary JEM manufactured to celebrate 90 years of Hoshino (Ibanez). It has a blue green metallic textured finish with matching headstock and a mirrored pickguard and 90th anniversary fretboard inlay.

It has a beautiful EBONY fretboard that it soft and wonderful to the touch. The guitar is equipped with 3 DiMarzio Evolution pickups in a H/S/H configuration. Real Gotoh tuners and the low pro edge tremolo make it stay in tune at all times.

Most Jem necks are considered "High Maintenance", not this one. The action is absolutely to die for with no buzz. There was one tiny nick behind the guitar (Which you couldn't see anyway), but it has been touched up other than this the guitar is absolutely mint. Believe or not this guitar has less than 10 hours play as it was bought for investment purposes.

Include Ibanez Hardshell case and tremolo bar.
