Bass
Rickenbacker 4001 Style

Details & History

I have owned both these basses from new.  They have been played to bits (not literally!) and are two great examples of the Ibanez artistry.  Not a lot to say which hasn't already been said in the bass forums except that, over the years, the real "sound" of the instruments, most especially the fretless, have genuinely mellowed and matured.
I got the Rick copy in '75 (£165-00); it doesn't have a serial number.  It's unchanged except for a top quality re-fret & new top nut.  I've removed the pickup cover, thumb rest & dampening bar fingerbolts to accommodate my playing style.
The Musician is model number MC940, purchased in '83 (£380-00); serial number F824667.  Totally unaltered, right down to the battery compartment screw! A beautiful instrument only lacking in one area - the controls/electronic circuits compartment shielding is inadequate.
