Details & History
The January NAMM Show in Anaheim, CA saw the unveiling of the first Prestige version of the best selling Ibanez SZ electric guitar. The new SZ2020TKF features the signature mahogany body of the standard SZ but adds a flamed maple top, a milled brass bridge for more sustain, and a comfortably rounded SZ Prestige neck. U.S.A.-made Seymour Duncan IBZ pickups take the SZ design to another new level of warm, fat, and powerful tone in this Ibanez Prestige model. The neck pickup features an Alnico magnet and offers warm, smooth tone with rich sustain. The bridge pickup features a ceramic magnet and provides high output with aggressive harmonics and clear attack. The SZ2020TKF's MMI bridge allows for radical intonation adjustments and augments the already superior sustain provided by the SZ Prestige set-neck and mahogany body. The Ibanez SZ guitar is a descendent of the super-slim Ibanez S, but it really is an all-new--and simpler--species. For greater simplicity and sustain, the SZ features a fixed bridge (S guitars feature more complicated double-locking trem bridges). For even more sustain and as well as upper fret access, the SZ features a set-in neck. The SZ features a shorter neck scale than the S (25.1" vs. 25.5") for a slightly looser string tension.
