Details & History
I bought this Ibanez SZ1220 in September 2004, I believe it was made in
June of the same year. This model features a set neck which is very fast
indeed, but at the same time isn't overly thin. It has Ibanez V1 and V2
pickups which are incredibly hot pickups to say they are stock. I was
thinking of updating them to an EMG Zakk Wylde set when I first got the
guitar but they sound that damn good I'm keeping them in. The
transparent black finish on top of the AAA maple cap is just immaculate.
Why Ibanez have stopped making this guitar is unbelievable. The
Gibraltar 3 bridge is immense, it can handle any tuning u can throw at
it, I put on a size 11 string gauge, and this guitar handled it without
having to adjust anything. The mahogany body provides some weight as it
is even heavier, yes you heard me, heavier than a Les Paul! The 2 volume
pots also make for a good feature, if your into Tom Morello style pickup
switching. Overall this guitar is the daddy and for less than £800 I'm
very pleased with it.
p.s. I got a hard case with it, and the prestige gift pack consisting of
an Ibanez strap, good quality 10ft lead and a bag to carry them in,
fantastic!
