442R AB (Antique Burst)

I ahd to get this one because of my love for the R bodies. And this one being a fixed bridge model makes it that much more valuable to me. These guitars are incredible, you can play anything with them.

442R TR (Transparent Red)

I saw this one in a guitar store and fell in love with it's sexy shape! This guitar was my #1 for about 10 years. I played it on tons of recordings and shows. Last year I finally retired it to try something new. Still haven't found a keeper yet. I have been able to get any sound out of this guitar; and it still has the stock pickups!

Ibanez 442RCS
Cherry Sunburst

This was a really lucky find. The 442R was only made in 1992, and this colour, Cherry Sunburst, was not listed as an available colour in the 1992 catalog. In addition, this particular one has a 1991 serial number, making it even more unique.

Solid alder body, one-piece maple neck and fretboard. Ibanez S2 and S3 single-coil pickups and V6 humbucker. Five-way switching with automatic coil tap in position 2. Black non-locking Ibanez TZ bridge and Gotoh Magnum-Lock tuners.

Ibanez 442R Transparent Red

I am not the original owner of this guitar, but it has only been in my possession about three months. I was fortunate enough to find two of these within a week of each other. This was the first one i found, a 1992 Radius 442 in Transparent Red. This model was only made for one year, and appeared in the 1992 catalog. I don’t need two identical guitars, so this gorgeous transparent

This is going to sound like salesman B.S., but in all honesty, these photos do not do the guitar justice. Digital cameras are notorious for not picking up reds very well, and it's really obvious here. The alder body looks a little flat and lifeless in the photos, but in in real life, under the lights, it positively glows, and the finish has tremendous depth.

Here are the specs:

  • solid alder body
  • one-piece 22-fret maple neck with maple fretboard
  • non-locking Ibanez TZ tremolo with locking Gotoh Magnum Lock tuners (all hardware is black)
  • Ibanez S2 and S3 single coils and V6 humbucking pickup; great, clear vintage tones
  • 5-way pickup selector with automatic coil tapping for the humbucker
  • Being 10+ years old and having been played quite a bit, she does have some blemishes:
    • light pick haze on the front (can probably be buffed out)
    • minor chips in the paint around the pickups selector mounting screws
    • a chip and some bruising/cracking in the finish around the output jack, with a couple of blemishes down to the wood
    • a bit of fret wear, but lots of life left on the frets
    • minor blemish at the tip of the headstock
    • some pitting on the neck plate, but the bridge is clean
  • comes with a form-fitting Ibanez Prestige Deluxe moulded hardshell case that has a with a serial-number matching label
    • the case has two functioning latches, one of which is missing the “butterfly” toggle
    • the middle latch is broken
    • otherwise, the case is intact and protects the guitar well
