Details & History

RG550 Left Handed.  Serial number F753876 (Fujigen 1987?).  Fire Alarm Red.  Original owner.  Bought in late 1987.  Excellent condition taking into consideration that it survive a tour (1988) and a year at GIT (1989).  Many divebombs with the tremolo, but it still works great.  : ) Look, no cracks at the neck joint.  I have an "axesak" protecting the body.  The pickups are DiMarzio Fred (bridge), stock center, and PAF Pro (Neck).

Details & History

I just bought this fantastic 1991 RG550L CM (I think CM stands for Crimson Metallic?).
Basswood body, one piece maple Super Wizard-neck with maple fingerboard, Edge tremolo, Gotoh tuners, Toplock III, black hardware, IBZ/USA V1, S1 and V2 pickups. The S1 was replaced by a DiMarzio FS1, but I'll be putting the S1 back in there.
Furthermore, the plastic knobs have been replaced with black metal dome knobs by the previous owner (who was the first owner, by the way).
She plays like a dream, the neck is slightly thicker than that of my '00 RG470, and sounds brilliant! She has more punch and clarity than my RG470 (which is really dull sounding and muddy), more pick attack and a tighter and more powerful midrange.
The pickups seem to be more musical sounding, I really like them a lot. The guitar is in pieces right now, waiting for new potentiometers and 5 way pickup selector switch and going through some cleaning. When she's done, however, I'm pretty certain the RG470 will be gathering dust, or will end up on the internet being offered for sale.
I LOVE this guitar, she might even replace my Jackson DK2 as my main axe.

Greetings,
Jeroen Gahrmann
