Details & History
Here are pictures of a Roadstar Series RG-404BK. I
noticed one other on the page that was going through a rebuilt but this
one is intact and in great shape. A close friend gave it to me about 2
years ago because they knew I was an Ibanez freak!! I have used it as
one of my 2 main guitars since.
It is now being sold to the next guitar hero since I
have just purchased 2 new Ibanez guitars, a S470DXQM-Charcoal Brown and an RG-320DXQM-Transparent Red, to carry me
forward.
Some specs:
RG-404 was sold in 1987. The only year I think it was
available.
Pickups: s-s-h, 5-position switch, volume, tone, tone
control had a push tap switch.
Maple neck, rosewood fingerboard
Power Rocker blade edge tremolo
Made In Japan
Serial #: F710779

Details & History
Hi Jerry,
It says roadstar series on the headstock. It
is a "pointy" headstock as compared to the more rounded one that I have
seen in some pictures of other roadstar series. It has a power-rocker
tremolo. It has H/S/S pickups (not too great sounding but not that bad).
I found the RG-404 stamp on the base of the neck after I unbolted it
from the guitar. I will take some pictures of it this weekend and send
them to you. I am currently in the process of stripping off the original
white finish so it may be a naked body when you see it.
Also, it has a really nice rosewood inlay
down the back of the neck. I bought it new when I was 16 and I never
really found out any of the details (dumb kid with a few hundred bucks
to spend).
I am going to replace all of the pickups to
make it a 1 dimensional metal guitar (since I have a new Mcnaught Single
Cut being built for me ).
Anyway, I will get some pictures of it this
weekend.
Later,
Jim
