I'm a beginner though I own several good guitars ( this SC3120 + Ibanez
RG1880 J Custom, MIJ 50's Fotoflame Stratocaster, Burns Brian May
Signature model).
I play a Peavey Classic 20 Amp with the following effects : CS3 -> Clone
baby Wha -> Fulldrive 2 -> DS1 Japan -> GE7 -> EH Small Stone -> CE3 ->
Amp (no effect loop on this amp)
The tone of this guitar is really different from anything else I own or I
tried. Clean tones are really warm and jazzy. It's possible to produce
many different kinds of sounds by using the 5 way switch selector : pos 1
: neck, pos 2 : neck parallel, pos 3 : neck + bridge, pos 4 : neck +
bridge split, pos 5 : bridge
Except the 3rd position, all of them sound really different.
The volume and tone controls are really sensitive.
Clean sounds can also be really funky or bluesy (with a small overdrive),
it's amazing.
It's not a guitar meant to play metal, but with the tone control set to
half, the bridge pickup, the DS1 and the GE7 on, it's not bad at all. Not
as good as my RG, but far better than my Strat'
It's an excellent pop / jazz / rock / fusion guitar
Action, Fit, & Finish: 9
Everything was OK, but I bought it "used" from a web .
It's "like new" and well set up
Reliability/Durability: 10
it seems to be really good stuff, no real woory about that.
Overall Rating: 10
I own this guitar for a few weeks only, but I think it will stay one of my
favorites.
The Neck is awesome, really undescriptible (it looks good and plays good).
It's not the same one as my RG1880, but it's very nice too.
The general look up is very particular (you love it or you hate it).
I'll keep this one all my life I think, because it's really particular.
Regular SC's are hard to find, but A J-Custom SC... it's like a dream...
