A Very Rare
J-Custom, production in single figures. I got this guitar NOS recently,
and it looks so cool. The entire body and headstock are covered in 18K
Gold leaf, with a gold lo-pro and hardware to match (It also has the
welcome Schaller Sure Claw fitted as standard - all trems could use
these!).
Its rarity and looks mean it won't be forgotten once seen, but the ace up
its sleeve is the sound. The body is Ash (quite rare on Ibanez models),
the DiMarzios are direct mount Tone Zone (bridge), Blue Velvet (middle
-single coil) and Air Norton (Neck). As you probably know, the Tone Zone
is one of the best Rock guitar pickups about. The Blue Velvet with the
ash body make for the best clean tones I've heard on an Ibanez.
Overdriven, the ash and the Air Norton (on its own and especially mixed
with the Blue Velvet) give the best pick attack and individual note
clarity bar none! This is truly a pickers instrument.
Last but not least, if you roll the volume back, positions 3,4&5 on p'up
selector give awesome tele and strat crunch sounds.
And just in case the GOLD wasn't flash enough already it comes with a Gold
sparkle strap.
The maple neck has good flame figuring and the rosewood board has super
grain.
Overall this is a fantastic looking and even better sounding guitar.
