Details & History

To introduce the J-Custom line, Ibanez created 5 unbelievable Premier showcase guitars for distributors to demonstrate what Ibanez was capable of as a guitar builder. Several production models like the JEM90-HAM and JPM-90HAM models were based on Premier guitars. This is one of those 5 original Premier J-Customs and is like no other Ibanez you have seen before. Possibly 1 of 17 ever made.

SPECS:

  • 5mm arched top on RG-style body (possibly mahogany because of greater weight and darker tone compared to basswood RGˇ¦s)
  • rich burgundy finish on top
  • matching headstock with pearl ˇ§Ibanezˇ¨ logo inlay
  • sides and back are natural wood stained in burgundy
  • intricate gold dust binding on body, neck and headstock
  • premium ebony fretboard with 2 gold dust dots at the 12th fret
  • 24 fret, 3 piece maple bolt-on neck
  • DiMarzio humbucker (Tone Zone?) in the bridge and an unidentified humbucker (DiMarzio PAF Pro?) in the neck
  • Lo-Pro Edge double locking tremolo
  • 1 volume + 1 tone control control
  • 5-way split switch (like JEM)
  • Gotoh safety lock strap pins
  • gold hardware
  • wooden control and tremolo plates stained to match!!

CONDITION: Used but in excellent condition except for: 1 small nick in the finish by the treble cutaway on the front, 2 small chips in the finish on the back near the bass cutaway (the chipping in the lacquer makes it appear more serious than it really is). There are some very light scratches in the finish on top and general wear on the hardware but nothing serious.
