Details & History

RG8670-TV

My third J-Custom, and this was the one I was trying to get for a long time and was lucky enough to find this one used.
Probably has the best feeling neck of all the guitars I own, it’s thinner than the neck on my RG1880S but not as thin feeling as my USA-Custom Exotic Wood.
Here’s the specs
:

-Honduras Mahogany with a flame maple top and natural binding (headstock also matches the body)
-5 piece neck with volute and maple veneer on the back of the headstock
-Ebony fretboard with tree of life inlay and flame maple binding
-Violet Chrome hardware with Edge-Pro bridge
-Volume and Tone pots are recessed into the body
-Dimarzio Air Norton – Blue Velvet – Tone Zone pickups
-Stock OTAX switch was replaced with a smoother playing custom modified CRL switch.
-All the back plates are metal (not plastic)

ONE OF THE SEXIEST GUITARS I OWN

Details & History

I wanted to afford me the best wonderful guitar  I have never seen : so I made some researches in the web and I discovered the existence of the J-CUSTOM (I wanted an IBANEZ cause I'm an Ibanez addicted : I've already an old RG560). My desire goes for the RG8670TV : all that I want on a guitar : beautiful color, good pick-ups, wonderful neck with three of life…

Flame Maple/Mahogany body
・ 5pcs. Maple/Bubinga neck
Ebony w/Flame Maple Binding fingerboard
Edge Pro bridge
DiMarzio Air Norton (H) neck pu
DiMarzio Blue Velvet (S) mid pu
DiMarzio Tone Zone (H) bridge pu

I had many difficulties to find it : unavailable in many retailers, discontinued in Ibanez store, unavailable in France, unknown in many IBANEZ dealers… I send many mails to web retailers and I had just one answer by ISHIBASHI.COM. they had just one RG8670 (the color I wanted TV !!!) but it was reserved. With many chance, the reserve has been cancelled one week later and I bought it the day after. Just 3 days for ship from Japan : shipped Monday from Japan, Thursday at home in France. BRAVO to ISHIBASHI… I was a bit afraid to order in Japan but no fear, they are wonderful dealers at ISHIBASHI !!!

the price of this guitar was near 2000€ in the Ibanez store without the shipment. I bought it 1441€ at ISHIBASHI (with shipment) and I added 350€ of duty taxes and TVA : so the final price near 1800€ with all taxes and shipment

the serial number is 4A055. can somebody tell me the significance of this number (I think 4 for 2004, A for ??? and 055 for the serial number) and tell me how many RG8670TV have been produced in the world (impossible to have this information !!!) ???.

some photos of the guitar.

Details & History

In the beginning I was looking at a Trans Blue RG2720 Prestige, but eventually thought what the hell, why not a J-Custom.
Besides, I already have an RG620 BM-SOL, which is a fantastic instrument.

So I ordered RG8670 Trans Violet, at that time Black Onyx, Trans Blue and Vintage Violin were sold out.

The guitar was ready to be shipped when they informed me that they found Black Onyx in one of their stores, so while that one
was being delivered to their offices, the TV was put on hold for me.

Eventually I went with BX and the TV went to David Torres who has posted here as well. Ain't that a funny story?!

The guitar was delivered to my door within two days, unbelievable. Overall, I am very satisfied with the customer service
at Ishibashi, they were very helpful.

I love the guitar, built quality is great. I like that it has recessed knobs and angled output jack a-la JEM.
The neck is superfast and thin - just the way I like it. DiMarzios sound very nice, better than SDs in my SL2H Jackson.

Interesting thing is that frets are not Jumbo, but smaller. Also, I heard some place that they are made from stainless steel. I wonder if that is true.
