Details & History
1997 RG-ART - up in the air as to how many
were made - 48 maybe? This one is a bit different as the bookmatch is
about 5mm or so off center towards the bass side of the guitar - which I
thought was odd for a J-Custom, but I suppose everyone had a bad day!
Without question the best sounding guitar in
my current arsenal. Something about basswood bodies and maple fretboards!

Details & HistoryI bought one of these guitars in Las Vegas a few years back. I have heard that there were anywhere from 25 to 40 made. I worked in a music store (Accent Music) and the Ibanez rep was very evasive to the list price as well as the number that made it to the states. He wouldn't even let me have his picture of it because he only had one. Mine has had the front pickup changed because the output was too noisy for me but I did buy it brand new and have the original pickup. I take very good care of my instruments and it is in mint condition. It is an exceptional instrument and has always given what others haven't.

Details & HistoryThis is the only guitar I've ever seen that can give the JPM90 a run for its money--the elusive RG-ART. First time I saw one of these up for auction on e-Bay, I thought, "Wow... that's pretty cool looking, but I really don't need any more guitars right now..." After becoming a frequenter of Jemsite and hearing mucho discussion about the natural goodness of the RG-ART, I became (almost) obsessed with finding one. As luck would have it, somebody else managed to auction one off on e-Bay, but I almost wasn't able to buy it because I had just bought the JPM90 earlier that week. When the package arrived, I probably stared at the guitar for at least 2 hours before I removed it from the case--it's just that stunning in person. I almost sold this recently because I hadn't been playing it much--WHAT WAS I THINKING? Anyway, much like the JPM90, the design was sketched on with pencil and then filled in with stain. This guitar, in theory, has the thickest maple top of all Ibanez J-Customs produced.

Details & HistoryThis is the Ultimate in Ibanez quality. This J Custom is made in Japan for Japanese distribution only. Very few of these guitars are made and there are only a hand full in the USA. The top is a two piece book matched flamed maple top. The different color shapes are actually wood burned outlines with different color stains added. Two DiMarzio that are put right in to the body instead of with pick up rings. The neck is a three piece neck (finally a skinny neck that will not bow because of the thinness). There is also a volute on the back of the neck like a 70's Gibson. We wont have to worry about the little crack that Ibanez guitars get by the nut with this chunk of wood (this should be on every high dollar Ibanez). No truss rod cover (no hole drilled for it so it is supposed to be that way). Flamed maple head stock too. There are a few little dings on the back edges. |
